Stated in the article, Ashley Fruno, the director of animal assistance projects of PETA Asia, shared her and the team's experience regarding rescuing some of our furry friends that were greatly affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano which happened a year ago. The team was able to save Pedro, a dog that suffered from gangrene, dehydration, and starvation. On a lighter note, Pedro had already found his home where he will feel all the love and care he deserves. On the other hand, they were also able to rescue Regan the cat, whose paws and ears were burned. However, same with Pedro, he was already indeed a happy cat.

The team was also able to feed dogs and cats along lakeside communities. At the same time, they started to search for animals whose families had not returned yet. The team had the cooperation of people and the government officials to put up posters and to report abandoned and distressed animals .
"But while Peta Asia’s rescue efforts on Taal were an unequivocal success, there are always animals in need all over the Philippines. People who are ready to open their hearts and homes to a new furry family member can make a difference by adopting a homeless dog or cat from Peta Asia or another rescue group. You, too, can save a life."
