"It takes nothing away from a human to be kind to an animal".

With people who care about wildlife, the Philippines is blessed. To make it a better place for animals, volunteers have formed welfare foundations and groups throughout our country. If you ever needed help about stray animals, abused, etc. Please contact these following organizations:

Animal Kingdom Foundation, Inc. (AKF)

AKF saved thousands of slaughter-bound dogs and imprisoned a number of dog dealers. Along with the Philippine National Police, they searched slaughterhouses and establishments where dog trade and dog-meat market takes place.

Rescued animals are then transferred to the AKF rescue center in Capas, Tarlac. One of the dog they saved named Sweet, was sent to a pet hospital for care and rehab in 2002. After two years, Sweet became the Dog of the Year in the United Kingdom in 2004.

Philippine Animal Rescue Team (PART)

PART has a four-hectare farm in San Jose del Monte District, Bulacan, where 500 stray dogs, cats, turtles, chickens, turkeys and goats are safe to wander freely.

As the first and only 'no-kill' animal welfare group in the country, it strives to avoid killing animals that do not suffer from any sort of disease.

Philippine Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA)

Established in 1904 and enacted by the Commonwealth Act 1285, the PSPCA is one of the oldest organizations in the Philippines. Its clinic in Quiapo, Manila, can handle check-ups, offer medications, become sanctuary, and provide pet care and grooming facilities.

If you want to save the animals, but you don't know how to get started or you don't have the funds, visit Teetalk.ph. You may receive donations and raise funds for your next project by selling hats, steel straws, bamboo pens, etc.

Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)

Republic Act 8485, or the Philippine Animal Rights Bill, was drawn up by PAWS. Instead of

acquiring pets in the Philippines, it encourages fostering, which increased the number that actually did.

It saved lost and wounded animals from a village devastated by a landslide as a part of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.

CARA Welfare Philippines

CARA uses a trap-neuter-return policy to monitor the population of street animals. They even run a shelter for the rescued pitbulls, from a dog-fighting syndicate.

People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) Asia

PETA Asia insists animals should not be eaten, worn, experimented with, or used for entertainment. They concentrate on where animals suffer most: factory farming, hospitals, the recording industry, and fashion.

In the Philippines, PETA Asia has produced over 35,000 vegetarian starter kits. In 2012, they have collaborated with PAWS to save tropical storm Haikui-affected animals.

Animal Welfare Coalition (AWC)

Established by other animal rights organizations in 2006, AWC works on appropriate pet treatment, animal control, and the trade in dog meat.

AWC was one of the welfare group who helped recover Kabang's "hero dog" snout, which leapt in front of a motorcycle in 2011 to save the lives of two teenagers.

Happy Animals Club

The goal of Ken Amante, nine years old, was to keep stray dogs and cats off the street. It soon became a reality after images on social media of him feeding animals on the street went viral.

Donations from around the world began coming in. His father advised him that it will take 20 years for him to find a shelter. But now, the Happy Animals Club is leasing a 1,000-square-meter lot with two wide pens, two flats, and an annex. To stop euthanasia, it even rescues dogs from the dog pound.
